As his indie star waned, Steve moved to the other side of the mixing desk, making a name for himself as a Sound Designer, working mainly on theatre productions and in the live art scene in London. During this time he also began lecturing on the subjects of sound design, theatre design & post-production at Goldsmiths, University of London. Highlights of this period of Steve’s career include working with Kevin Spacey & The Old Vic Theatre; being shortlisted for the World Stage Design Awards 2005 in Toronto; designing the sound for the largest, free theatre event in London at the Scoop, South Bank; several years of successful runs of shows at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival and receiving favourable notices from many of the UK’s leading theatre critics including The Guardian, Timeout: London and The Independent.

In 2008, Steve moved to Dubai to join Creative Force Audio Production, one of the region’s leading audio post-production studios. During this time, he worked on a range of high-profile projects for the world’s leading brands including Pepsi, HSBC, Emirates, Visa, Unilever, Panasonic, Sony, and international agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, JWT, FITCH, BBDO & DDB as well as many high profile projects for the Dubai Government. Steve holds a Masters’s degree in Post Production: Sound Design from the Skillset Screen Academy, Bournemouth University at Distinction level and was awarded a “Letter of Commendation” by the University Board for the quality of his work. On returning to Bournemouth in 2014, Steve established BOMO Audio and has worked on a range of projects from feature films to national TV series and commercials as well as immersive media. In addition to running BOMO Audio, Steve is also the Programme Leader for the MA in Sound Design for Screen programme at Bournemouth University. The Picture House – Bournemouth

Our Pro Tools equipped Sound Design studio is situated, rather fittingly, in The Picture House, Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth’s oldest surviving cinema building. Originally built in 1911, The Picture House screened its last feature in the 1960s, but is now a creative hub for media companies and digital creatives.

According to a Tech City UK report, Bournemouth has become the fastest-growing digital economy in the UK, ousting London and the Silicon Roundabout in favour of our own Silicon Beach. So, aside from Bournemouth being a beautiful place to live and work, it is also home to many, exciting creative companies and talented individuals working in the digital, media and creative industries.

The Picture House, with its own film / photography studios, equipped with large format green screen and infinity cove, set build facilities and in-house film production companies, alongside our BOMO Audio’s own high-quality sound design, voiceover & audio post production services, The Picture House has become an exciting, one-stop shop production facility, located 10 minutes walk from Bournemouth rail station.
